This is a friendly reminder that if you received CERB, CESB, CRB, CRSB, CRCB or enhanced EI Payments in 2020, chances are you will have to pay taxes.

What’s the reason? These support payments made to Canadians did not have any tax taken off of at the source. That means if you received the government assistance you will have to include the payment(s) as income on your 2020 tax return.

The government will be issuing T4A regarding CERB, CESB, CRB, CRSB, CRCB and Enhanced EI payments to anyone who received assistance.  These T4A statements will be mailed out, or if you have subscribed to electronic notifications you will find the T4A when you log in to your CRA account.  The T4A will detail how much money a person received in 2020, and you should expect the document by March 10, 2021.
